Frequently Asked Questions And Answers
These questions came from potential customers and professional personnel dealing with safety. We hope you find them helpful and informative.
Q.: How different DE rescue system from other solutions?
A.: The major differences - no external power need, DE capable for various ways of installation locations, DE allow the user choose the way out by using the cable diversion wheels. DE allow and capable to use the rescue cable with no extra anchored. DE operate under consist rate of speed-1.0m/sec. DE system use an innovated developed rescue cable desgned for this type of solution.
Q.: What are the approved desecnt highet and load?
A.: The system designed for operation up to 300m of hight but by the technical standard approved for 150m.
The laod range is 30 kg to 150 kg.
Q.: What is the cable ripping force?
A.: Approximately of 2700 kg.
Q.: Is it possible that a couple of people will be evacuated simultaneously in paralel from the same evacuation site?
A.: Yes. Two adults or an adult and a child or two children could be evacuated simultaneously by the same system and if there is more than single system at the same apartment, evacuation process could work in parallel.
Q.: What happens in case of direct flames on the rescue system itself?
A.: No evacuation process could be operated. The concept presents a situation, which the evacuation process begins and ends before extreme conditions effects the process.
Q.: Can the invalids, unconciuons or children use DE system?
A.: Yes. Children will be assisted by adult as well as invalid. If the invalid coild mobile him self and be in control, he could be evacuated using no assistance.
Q.: Is it vital for the user to try out at least one descent exercise?
A.: Early experience is optional and not mandatory. We shall recommend buyers to visit training center and experience the operation of the system in order to gain confidence and “peace of mind” that it is dependable in an emergency.
Q.: Is any prior training needed to operate the system?
A.: Basically, a short description will do. There is an operation instructions sheet which the user will read and understand as well as the escape system will be marked and signed with operation guide. The escape system will be supplied with a demonstration video. Local training centers are to be set up to provide training and an opportunity to try outing and training on the system.
Q.: What is the average time to lower an evacuee?
A.: It’s depends on variable factors as height, accessibility and disability. For example: a descent from the 15th floor based on a descend rate of 1.0m/s, (~~ 50m height +harness wearing time+ walking towards the accessible exit) = estimation of 150sec.
Q.: Is it possible to estimate the time needed for a successful evacuation?
A: Yes. By using evacuation analysis, time for evacuation will be estimated taking in several parameters as location, number of evacuees, height, number of systems installed and others.
Q.: Is the length of the cable provided with the device constant or tailored for the installation?
A.: A qualified technician installs the system and door. For each installation of the system, the rescue cable length is measured to suit the longest rescue course.
Q.: What is the frequency of periodical inspections of the system?
A.: This system has a standard mark. The system is inspected once a year by an authorized technician. The approval is valid for a year, whereupon the next inspection is to be performed (in a manner to elevators and working in height devices).
Q.: How is the system installed in office buildings?
A.: For office building, the escape system installed in different accessible locations to secure all evacuees will be evacuated, done by professional inspection process. The installation locations will be according the floor layout and the capacity of the floor. The number of systems is decided upon based on a prior evacuation analysis and optimization for the number of people, descent time, floor height, etc.
Q.: When descending from a Multi-storey building, what happens if there are several evacuees on a certain side of the building at the same time, with a chance of evacuees meeting and tangling up?
A.: A constant descent rate of 1.0 m/s is meant to prevent collisions. The descent rate is 1.0m/s and provides prevention of tangling bumping. There is no chance that numbers of evacuees will decide to descend at the same moment.
Q.: Which accessories are provided with the system?
A.: Some accessories are proposed to be purchased, such as: smoke hood, overpressure respirators for children, escape axe, uniquely designed harnesses, gel blankets, carriers for infants, and solutions for handicapped users.
Q.: Is the system’s descent cable fireproof?
A.: The cable is made of a steel core coated with combustion inhibiting textile materials and withstands the standard. The rescue cable is fire retardant.
Q.: What happens if the exit chosen by the user is over a floor that is on fire with flames coming out of the window/balcony near the line of descent?
A.: Before descending, the operator must check this. It is desirable to avoid descending through / being exposed to flames and heat. We recommend use of protective equipment.
Q.: Is there an option of another person using the system while the system is operating and lowering a person to the pavement, before the person on the harness has undone himself?
A.: The escape system designed to prevent such option.
Q.: In case of the building sprinklers system will be in use, the escape system is functional?
A: The escape system will be functional in wet environmental condition. The system was tested and inspected under extreme environment conditions of -40°c to 110°c in storage.
Q.: If someone decides to descend from an exit that causes the rescue cable to meet friction points, how will the resulting friction affect the system’s operation?
A: There will be a certain effect on the descent rate, but the rescue cable manufactured with under extreme safety levels and meets stringent standards. In case of low weight of user, as there more friction points it will load negative chances for a successful escape.
Q.: Is there a danger of the harness tangling or jamming while the cable rises back up (for the following descent)?
A.: The rescue harness connected directly to the rescue cable and attached to harness storage sleeve which will store the harness to prevent a chance of tangling / snagging of the harness on any objects while it ascends for reuse
Q.: Will the rescue cables intertwist , if many persons in the same building use the escape system in parralel?
A.: The rescue cable we manufacture is not intertwist, so there are no interfering between users which descent in parallel or through time gap between users.
